Play ball! MMA coming to a ballpark near you

Boxing had some epic fights over the years at baseball stadiums.

Yankee Stadium was host to some classics all the way through the 70's and most recently, Yuri Foreman and Miguel Cotto scrapped in the New York outfield.

In 2010, MMA has started to take the lead in the fight game. Check around, a mixed martial arts events may be hitting a ballyard near you. We found three events scheduled in 2011 at minor league parks.

Former UFC fighter and "Ultimate Fighter" alum Edwin DeWees is headlining "Rumble at the Ranch" at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Az..

DeWees (36-14-1) beat Gideon Ray and lost to Patrick Cote on TUF 4. He was officially 0-2 in the UFC with losses to Rich Franklin and Chris Leben. He's also been in the cage with veterans like Joe Stevenson, Frank Trigg, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Jorge Rivera.

DeWees against Chuck Huus is the main event on an Apr. 23 card. DeWees, 28, has been a little inactive the last two years, but he did fight recently in Finland suffering a loss to Marcus Vanttinen on Mar. 12.

The Lexington Legends put a cage on the infield for "Bluegrass Bragging Rights" on May 15. The Lakewood (N.J.) Blueclaws are hosting "Fights Under the Lights" on June 23.

Get out to the park for some fisticuffs and grappling. In most cases, it's as low as $25 a ticket for some good, wholesome family fun.

Brock Lesnar makes a ‘Friend’

Before teaching Jimmy Fallon about rear naked chokes, Brock Lesnar met up with David Schwimmer, also known as Ross Geller on "Friends."

Schwimmer tweeted, "UFC 130 perhaps? ... If @DCBROCKLESNAR loses 175 pounds and drops down to my weight class, it's over. God I hope he knows I'm kidding."

This isn't Schwimmer's first brush with large men from the UFC. When starring on "Friends," he was part of the episode that featured Bruce Buffer, Big John McCarthy and Tank Abbott. Monica Geller's boyfriend, played by Jon Favreau, had dreams of being an "ultimate fighter," despite being thrown around the Octagon by Abbott.

Perhaps Schwimmer was having flashbacks of that episode when staring into the eyes of Lesnar. Or perhaps the two just commiserated on being TV stars, as the Lesnar-coached edition of "The Ultimate Fighter" starts Wednesday night on Spike.

Scott Coker: Nothing Stopping UFC vs. Strikeforce Fights from Happening

SAN DIEGO - Good news for fight fans who are eager to see the best from Strikeforce take on the best from the UFC now that Zuffa owns both promotions: there's nothing stopping it from happening. It's only a matter of who and when.

At least, that's the story according to Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker, who seemed as anxious to see some cross-promotional dream fights as anyone after Saturday night's Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley event.

"I think, you know what? Let the Strikeforce guys fight the UFC guys," Coker said. "I'd love to see it. To me, Alistair Overeem versus Cain Velasquez? Let's do it. Or Fedor fighting Brock Lesnar. ...There's nothing to say these guys can't fight each other."
