Twitter’s evil downside: Tito and Jenna fighting again online

Tito Ortiz, still one of the most high profile fighters in mixed martial arts, is a prolific tweeter, but the last day or so is one of those times you wish he and his former pornstar wife Jenna Jameson would power down.

Two nights ago, Ortiz got MMA fans and followers all worked up when he sent out a tweet saying, "I'm out."

The rumor mill cranked up thinking the fighter was talking about his career in the cage. After all, Ortiz has had a ton of injuries and delays in recent years. He was supposed to fight this weekend at Ultimate Fight Night 24 against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira before pulling out. It was confirmed early this week that he'll return against Ryan Bader at UFC 132.

Right now, there's no need to worry about his work in the Octagon. Instead, it looks like Tito was talking about the latest run-in with his wife. Ortiz wasn't very forthcoming, but Jameson was tweeting on the topic of her marriage with every Tom, Dick and Harry.

In his efforts to stay relevant, continue to earn a living and complete his contract with the UFC, Ortiz is already battling father time. God only knows how the seemingly constant drama on the homefront has to be affecting his career.

Thanks to Cage Potato for this tip and Twitter screengrabs. CP also did a great job of summing up the latest chapter in the Tito-Jenna story:

Seriously. Is Twitter and Facebook just a major waste of time for anyone who isn't a creep or an attention whore? Hopefully they follow through with this latest threat of a split so we don't have to report on their train wreck of a relationship again.

Jones on Jay Leno: The champ is a crime-fighter and a flirt

As was mentioned on Kirstie Alley's Twitter, Jon Jones made quite an impression on the actress before their appearance on "The Tonight Show." Once sitting next to Jay Leno, Jones said that Alley was hitting on him. He also detailed his crime-fighting adventures before he beat Mauricio "Shogun" Rua to win the light heavyweight championship at UFC 128.

It's early in his championship reign, but it's already fun having Jones as the champ. He's eager to show his personality and makes an excellent spokesman for MMA. Not to mention, he clearly made a new MMA fan in Alley.

Twins David and Damion Douglas Take Different Paths, Approaches

Filed under:

Damion DouglasDavid and Damion Douglas will join some fairly elite company at Friday's Strikeforce Challengers show in Stockton, Calif., about a 40-mile drive from their Antioch stomping grounds.

The fraternal twin brothers will fight on the same card, joining the likes of Antonio Rodrigo and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (Pride Critical Countdown Absolute, July 1, 2006) and Matt and Mark Hughes (Extreme Challenge 32, May 21, 2000) as twins who have accomplished the rare feat.

The Cesar Gracie-trained Douglas brothers, who fought together on an EliteXC show in September 2008, will do it this time on a televised card on Showtime, putting their entry on a future MMA trivia question a little more in the spotlight than their predecessors.

But if you're imagining David and Damion as the kind of twins who do everything together, like in a cheesy '80s Doublemint gum commercial, think again.

Justin Wilcox Wins Strikeforce Challengers Main Event

Justin WilcoxJustin Wilcox put on a show at Saturday night's Strikeforce Challengers event in Stockton, California, dominating Rodrigo Damm for five minutes and opening up a cut over Damm's left eye that caused the fight to be stopped before the start of the second round.

It was Wilcox's fifth consecutive win in Strikeforce, and his most impressive yet. Wilcox benefited from Strikeforce legalizing elbows to the head on the ground in brutalizing Damm on the ground, and prior to that he chased Damm around the cage, as Damm didn't really look like he wanted any part of Wilcox.

Wilcox, who had Josh Koscheck in his corner, praised his camp afterward.

White lukewarm on GSP-Silva, now calling it a ‘fantasy’ fight

Because things change quickly in the world of mixed martial arts, it's never smart to book a fight nine months in advance. The possibility of a Georges St. Pierre-Anderson Silva clash has gone from very likely six weeks ago to Dana White calling it a "fantasy" fight on Saturday.

Around UFC 126, the UFC president sounded pretty certain he'd finally be putting together the superfight between his welterweight and middleweight champions.

After UFC 128, it looks like the fight has been put on the backburner.

"This fight isn't happening," White said. "It's not a fight yet. It's still a big fantasy fight. There are still things that need to happen in the meantime before we sit down and discuss where this fight would be, what weight it would be at, how it would work. It's all just fantasy yet.

"I literally have not talked to Georges St-Pierre or Anderson Silva about this fight."

GSP echoed those sentiments when he spoke with Cagewriter two weeks ago.

"[...] It's a complete re-orientation of my career. People are saying crazy stuff: 'Oh, he just has to gain 30 pounds and take the fight and fight him in three months.' I can't get 30 pounds in three months. It would take a lot more than that, if I want to go up in weight class," said St. Pierre. "Plus, Silva fights at light heavyweight as well. So he walks around at … he's probably 40 pounds heavier than I am. So if I fight this fight, it might be at a catch weight. If it happens."

Now that the UFC has purchased Strikeforce, that's an even bigger if.

The UFC opened discussions with Strikeforce's former owners starting in December, but when White talked about the superfight possibility at UFC 126, he couldn't have known less than six weeks later, he'd have his pick of the Strikeforce welterweight and middleweight divisions.

Strikeforce's 170 class may not be deep, but it does have a guy in Nick Diaz, who should certainly get a shot at GSP, if the champ gets by Jake Shields at UFC 129 in late April.

The common thought is that Silva has cleaned out the middleweight division. That's utter nonsense. He's got plenty of intriguing fights at 185. Chael Sonnen deserves another shot and if Wanderlei Silva, can stay healthy and get some wins under his belt, that's a mega-fight as well. There's also Yushin Okami and what happens if Michael Bisping keeps piling up wins? The Strikeforce roster also has a few intriguing matchups for Silva led by Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza, Tim Kennedy and Dan Henderson.
