Rua continues the Brazilian party at UFC 134 with KO of Griffin

Mauricio "Shogun" Rua left no doubt about his abilities, knocking out Forrest Griffin in the first round of their rematch at UFC 134 on Saturday night. Rua was one of the many Brazilian-born fighters to win in front of the raucous crowd in Rio de Janeiro.

"Shogun" took advantage of Griffin's aggressiveness, landing a right as Griffin moved in to attack. That knocked Griffin to the ground. Rua finished up with several hammer strikes until the fight was stopped at 1:53 in the first round.

After the bout, a jubilant "Shogun" thanked Brazil several times. Like all of the Brazilian fighters who won at UFC 134, Rua was ecstatic to get to fight in front of a home crowd, and the crowd was just as happy to have Rua win for them.

Griffin won their first fight, at UFC 74 in 2007, with a rear-naked choke. It was Rua's first fight in the UFC after a successful career in PRIDE, and a win that earned Griffin a title shot. Since then, both fighters have held the UFC light heavyweight belt, though neither was able to defend it.

Rua lost the belt to Jon Jones in March, but showed that he is still part of the elite in a crowded UFC light heavyweight field. Griffin, on the other hand, is struggling to show that he belongs with the best. Since winning the belt, he is 2-3.

Jones answers Jackson ?Spygate? allegations on Twitter

Jon Jones carries himself in a certain manner and the last thing he wants to be called is less than trustworthy or a cheater. That's what he is according to the bombshell dropped by his UFC 135 opponent Quinton Jackson. "Rampage" told Yahoo! Sports' Kevin Iole that he suspects Team Jones has a spy in Jackson's camp.

Jones responded Tuesday on Twitter:

Jackson first became suspicious following his UFC 114 fight against Rashad Evans. Evans employed the odd tactic of repeatedly punching Jackson in the knee. It was same knee that Jackson had injured in camp, yet it never went public.

Then Jackson got a recent tip from a Twitter follower that there was a spy in his camp so the veteran fighter tried a little experiment last week. He spread it around the camp that he'd injured his hand. A few hours later, Jackson claims he got a call from UFC matchmaker Joe Silva to find out about the injury. Said Jackson:

"How did he know about my hand injury that fast? It wasn't on the Internet, and yet he knew about my hand injury right away. The UFC people were in Brazil, which is why it probably took them four hours to call me. That shows me two things: They have spies in my camp, one, and two, they're dumb as hell, because they didn't know how to use the information correctly and to wait. He called right away, running to Joe Silva. Joe Silva called my manager right away."

Jackson points the finger of blame at Jones' manager Malki Kawa.

"One of my friends was talking to Jon Jones' manager recently, and Jon Jones' manager was saying that he knows everything that is going on in our camp," Jackson said. "He said he had spies in our camp and he knew everything that was going on. That got me thinking."

Kawa, who also worked with Rashad Evans in the past, denied any involvement. Clearly, Jones doesn't want his reputation sullied by this mini-scandal. Sadly, it already has been whether he had firsthand knowledge of the leak or not.

MMA Marketplace: Get your own authentic MMA championship belt

To get an authentic MMA championship belt, you can put in years of hard work, sacrifice and training to earn it, or you can drop $1,600 on a WAMMA belt on eBay. Look, it's so shiny!

WAMMA was the organization that wanted to create an undisputed champ at every weight class, regardless of what promotion they fought in. Fedor Emelianenko held the WAMMA heavyweight title. In this picture from November 2009, Fabricio Werdum can be seen jokingly grabbing at Fedor's WAMMA belt, but WAMMA barely made a blip among most MMA fans.

What they did make was a pretty, pretty belt, and it can be yours for a starting bid at $1,595 plus shipping on eBay.

Kikuta vs. Yamamoto to Headline 'Grabaka Live! First Cage Attack'

GRABAKA, the Japanese gym and now MMA promotion, will go old school for its first MMA card, announcing recently a main event between Japanese MMA icon Sanae Kikuta and former UFC title challenger Kenichi Yamamoto for the Oct. 15 event in Tokyo.

Both fighters are making rare in-ring appearances for this "Grabaka Live! First Cage Attack" event in association with DEEP. Kikuta, who will turn 40 in just over a week, has fought less frequently, having only accepted four fights in the past five years. Meanwhile, Yamamoto, 35, will be fighting for the first time in five years.

Kikuta (29-7-3), who began MMA in March 1996 and was a competitor on the second PRIDE card, is recognized as one of the sport's pioneers. In 2000, he founded the GRABAKA gym best known for developing future PRIDE stars Akihiro Gono and Kazuo Misaki. The former Pancrase and ADCC champion Kikuta made a stop last October on the star-studded DEEP 50 anniversary event, beating Lee Sak Kim by TKO.

Yamamato (5-9-1) has been far less successful in MMA, but can say he once challenged for the UFC middleweight title. Back in UFC 23 in November 1999, Yamamoto beat Daiju Takase and Katsuhisa Fujii in a single-night tournament to earn a title shot. However, Yamamto would fall short at UFC 29 via guillotine choke to Pat Miletich.

Other matchups official for the card are Yutaka Ueda vs. Ryuki Ueyama and Shigeyuki Uchiyama vs. Tomoaki Ueyama. If the name Shigeyuki Uchiyama sounds familiar, he was the guy who lost his ear in a Pancrase fight last year.
