Marloes Coenen apparently was not pleased when she heard UFC president Dana White malign the way her management does business, and say that's the reason why she was cut from Strikeforce. After White said that Golden Glory, the gym that represents Coenen, Jon Olav Einemo and the Overeem brothers, insisted on being paid differently than other UFC and Strikeforce fighters, Coenen tweeted this picture of a check from Forza, the holding company that covers the UFC and Strikeforce. She did it to show that for her last fight, she was paid directly, in line with Zuffa's practices.

White responded that the check was only cut that way because the UFC and Strikeforce insisted that it be done that way to fall in line with state commissions rules. Golden Glory wanted the check to be made out to them.
As in all he-said, she-said situations, the truth is likely somewhere in the middle. But the most ridiculous part of Coenen, Einemo and the Overeem's departure from Zuffa is that talented fighters will not be fighting here because of a lack of willingness to compromise. It's hard to believe the UFC's claim that the best fighters fight the best fighters when three of the best were just exiled because of how a check was written.

As much as Brazil is known as a hotbed for MMA, its true national sport is soccer. They have won more men's World Cups than any other country, and their women have placed in the top three in the world twice. So it's no surprise to see that the UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva is a big fan of the sport. Now, he will get to carry the colors of his favorite team, Sport Club Corinthians, into the cage.
According to Cagewriter's Brazilian counterpart, Casca Grossa, Silva will wear the badge of the Corinthians into the cage when he fights in Rio de Janeiro at UFC 134. This partnership will extend beyond that, as Silva is expected to be involved with the Corinthians on more projects after the bout with Yushin Okami. Silva has also picked up sponsorships with Nike and Burger King.
This is far from MMA's only connection to the beautiful game. UFC featherweight contender Kenny Florian played soccer for Boston College, and his opponent at UFC 136, champion and Brazilian Jose Aldo, grew up playing the sport. Silva still likes to play every now and then, and UFC heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez crossed paths with soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo in July.

Bernard Hopkins hasn't always been a big fan of mixed martial arts, but like many boxers he's coming around to understand and respect the sport. BHop admits that just his boxing alone wouldn't carry him in an MMA fight. On the flip side, most MMA fighters certainly respect the hands and foot work of great boxers.
If he wasn't already on the list, add Rashad Evans to the group that has a healthy respect for boxers. On UFC 133 workout day in Philadelphia, Evans got a visit this week from the 46-year-old future Hall of Famer.
Hopkins is one of the best defensive fighters in the history of boxing. He showed Evans the importance of rolling the shoulder and tucking your chin. Hopkins also drilled Evans on how to throw the right hand with more momentum. It's pretty neat stuff. Take some time to watch the master explain his craft.

Dana White's a business man first, but fight fan is a close second. Over the years, the UFC president has had opinions on lots of fighters in and out of his organization. He's been particularly dogged about his thoughts on Fedor Emelianenko. White believes Fedor's been overrated for the last five or six years.
It's nothing against the fighter himself, it's just an opinion. It was the same with Kimbo Slice, who he called on the carpet and said couldn't win "The Ultimate Fighter." Slice didn't come close to winning TUF 10 and lasted just two fights in the UFC.
Fedor's recent run against better competition is also showing that he has plenty of warts, but White still believes he can win fights.
"Although I don't think Fedor is anywhere near the pound-for-pound list, and as far as heavyweights go, I'd have him toward the bottom of the top 10 and maybe just out of the top 10, here's what I will not deny Fedor. He can punch, OK? That guy can punch and if he catches you, he can knock you out," White told SI.com
He's facing a tough customer in Dan Henderson, who's never been KO'd. But White wonders what the 230-pound Fedor gains with a win over Henderson, who fought at middleweight in the UFC.
"If I've got to still give Fedor his digs, my dig would be, 'Dude, you're fighting a 185-pounder.' Henderson's got a great chin, he's durable, he's got good wrestling, he can stay out of submissions, and all the great things I can say about Henderson, but Henderson weighs 185 pounds. So I actually think this fight, as far as Fedor is concerned, it's a lose lose for him," White said. "If he knocks out Dan Henderson, he knocks out a 185-pounder. If he gets knocked out, he just got knocked out by a 185-pounder."
Fedor, riding a two-fight losing streak, is a huge favorite at minus-225.
